April 23rd - Refugees and Indefinite Detention Forum

On the 23d April we will be holding a forum called 'Refugees and Indefinite Detention.' We will have various speakers talk about Sri Lanka, Burma and Afghanistan, and the reasons as to why people are fleeing. We'll also discuss our upcoming, 30-hour walk in Melbourne!

All are welcome! Watch this space to see who will be speaking this night!

January 26th - January 31st

In January 2015 Walking for Freedom spent a week in Canberra raising awareness for the refugees with negative ASIO assessments. We held a few workshops, screened No Fire Zone and walked around the ASIO headquarters for 32 hours straight!

Friday 16th January - Fundraiser Gig

Come on down to the Dancing Dog Cafe in Footscray to hear some live music and support our event! 7pm start and $10 entry!

Sunday 17th August - Run for freedom

On the 17th of August Emily Viney and Andrew Pilbrow will participate in the Victorain Road Runners

10km run to fundraise for our walk! Thanks Emily & Andrew!

 

Saturday 12th July- Media training!

A small group of us will be having media training to develop our media skills! The training will be held in Melbourne city from 11am til 1pm. If you are interested in being involved in the media side of things, please contact Jasmine at walkingforfreedom@outlook.com.
